Dispersion of Street Children around Colombo

Well guys,  To get some more info on this issue, I phoned one of my friend who resides around Maligawatta area. First of all It is glad to say, he told me that now in Colombo 11,10,08 and Colombo 01 area they don’t see many street children like before. 

According to my conversation with him he told me that 06 or 07 years before there were many street children they have seen in many areas such as Colombo fort, Pettah,YMBA Area, Slave Island and Maradana ,Base line, Amar Street,Panchika Wattha ,Bazaar, Borella, Maligawattha, Panchikawattha area,etc. But present situation is very much ok than before. Now they do not see many children in those streets. There is a reason to occur this kind of situation. “According to our President Mr.Mahinda Rajapakshe’s Concept “Rehabilitation of Street Children “There is less probability roam in Colombo City. 

And also he said Authorities such as Civil Security Authority, Sri Lanka Police, and Army are conducting various actions in strict manner according to government rules and regulations on them. Department of Probation and Child care too. Hence activities like selling lotteries, pushing carts, begging, many labor works they can’t do like before. If above security forces noticed street children do said activities , directly they are arrested by the Colombo police and sending them for Child Rehabilitation. 

Actually ,after hearing this I felt very sad on them , “Some time one small boys gang who were aged 7,9,10,11,14 used to come in front of my shop. At that time they continuously requested us to play CDs, Requested us to switch on the Television. Some time we refused to do that.... irritating!!! I have seen when we switch on the cassette or Television they used to dance, Sing, Jump… on the Road. But Since 3,4 months he has not seen them.

Dear Friends… What do you feel …? They are missing everything… May be they have not had slept in Mother’s warm.. They do not know “ What is Love?” Nobody loves them… !!

May be they do not have particular place to Sleep.. As per the conversation Which I had with my Father- in- Low , many children are roaming here and there till 8.00 or 8,30 in Pettah area . May be they go for sleep.. Many children wait until 10.30,11.00 when shops closed … Many children work at Spare parts shops and Garages in Panchikawattha and Maligawattha area.

Where to go? ….. Most probably in the payment or Rail way Station, if not Under construction Building…
